Annulus Fissures
Annulus Fissures are Mechanically and Chemically Conductive to the Ingrowth of Nerves and Blood Vessels – It was once thought that the intervertebral disc had neither a blood or nerve supply. Recent research have identified that Annulus fissures provide a low pressure environment that allows nerve and blood vessel growth. Spine 2012. Since there can be blood vessels, there can be swelling.
